half block marzipan ~ rolled thin
8oz self raising flour
4oz butter or margarine
4oz caster sugar
5oz raisins/cherries mixed
2 eggs beaten
a drop or two of milk
optional ingredients ~ peel & chopped nuts

"I think peel is yucky but you can add it if you like it"


flour, sugar & mixed spice into a bowl with the butter or marg ~ rub ingredients between
fingers until it looks like fine bread crumbs (be patient) ~ add the fruit ~ mix in the eggs &
milk & mix until the mixture drops off the spoon ~ grease & flour a 1lb loaf tin ~ lay 2
inches of mixture in the bottom ~ 1 layer of marzipan ~ rest of mixture on top ~ sprinkle
with demerara sugar & bake for approx 40 mins ~ test with a skewer, if it comes out clean,
it's ready
